For over two decades as a major gift officer for Yale University, Mystic Seaport, The Nature Conservancy of CT and AmeriCares, Sarah Shrewsbury has developed extensive experience in raising significant funds for:

         Current Use / Operating Budgets

         Scholarship

         Academic Research

         New Programs

         Scientific Studies

         International Aid

Natural Resource, Land Preservation, Protection and Education

         Environmental Policy and Research

         Historic Restoration

         Historic Theme Park Enhancement

Sarah's extensive skill sets run the full gambit of the major gift process including: identifying, researching, cultivating, entertaining, soliciting. closing, and stewarding major gift donors.  She also excels at tracking and prioritizing the major gift process and managing multiple balls in the air.

The 5,6 & 7 figure gifts Sarah raises come in all forms: planned gifts, bequests and gifts-in-kind, in addition to cash and stock.

Sarah has visited thousands of donors in their homes, offices, private clubs from Maine to Virginia. She has traveled to Ukraine and Guatemala to witness great philanthropy in action.

In 2013, Sarah created the international connections and nurtured the process, which led to 30,000 pairs of Tom's Shoes being delivered, through the auspices of AmeriCares, to orphans in Ukraine. Previously, AmeriCares was not working in Ukraine.

in 2008, Sarah identified, cultivated and closed the largest single commitment, $2.5 million for The Nature Conservancy of CT - which funded a 5 year scientific study of the Connecticut River.

Sarah gets to know philanthropists through active listening, asking key questions and using patience, intelligence and empathy to guide donors to achieve their philanthropic dreams.
